The band, "Maroon 5," is an American pop rock band, that has been around since 1994 when they were known as, "Kara's Flowers," Maroon 5 orginated in Los Angeles, California. At the time when the orignal four members of the band was still in high school, the orignal memebers were Adam Levine, which plays the lead vocalist and lead guitar player. The other orignal members of the band are Jesse Carmichael, which plays the rhythym guitar player and back up guitar player, Mickey Madden, which plays the bass guitar and Ryan Dusick, which plays the drums. After self-releasing an album they called, "We Like Digging," the band got signed to a record company called Reprise Records, where they released their second album called, "The Fourth World," in 1997. After the band released their album they each parted ways with the record company and some of the members of the band attended college. After a few years of being separated the band, finally changed their image, by adding a new guitarist, James Valentine, in 2001, where they changed their name to, "Maroon 5". When the band started to pursue this new direction one band member, Carmichael, switched his main instrument to playing keyboards, after these changes, "Maroon 5," signed with a subsidiary of J Records. With, "Maroon 5," signed up with a different record lable, they were able to release their debut album, "Songs About Jane," in June 2002. During this time their bands lead single was, "Harder To Breathe," which helped the album to debut at number six on the billboard 200 chart.
After having their album go platinum, "Maroon 5," won a grammy for best new artist, in 2005. After getting a grammy for their best new album the band shortly after got to go on an extensively worldwide tour in support of Songs About Jane. Dusick, in 2006, officialy left the band after suffering from serious wrist and shoulder injuries and was replaced by Matt Flynn. Later the band recorded their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, after the band reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder," became the band's first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The bands later released their third new studio album , which was re-released in 2011 to include the single "Moves like Jagger". While the original version of the album received mixed reviews, "Moves like Jagger" reached the number one on the Billboard, Hot 100. After the band had released new albums they made the band decided to sign with a different record company, Interscope records, and made them their first album, named, "V." Later the band had another official band member, PJ Morton, join the band and ever since Maroon 5 has done worldwide tours and has sold more than 27 million albums and has over 48 million singles.
